Say Yes to Hoboken

  • DIY: Painted Glass Tumblers

    Hi Say Yes To Hoboken readers! I’m all about infusing my life with bright colors and interesting patterns, and this DIY project for painted glass tumblers is a perfect example. With a few simple materials, some of which you probably already have (like simple glassware), and a quick couple of hours, you’ll be enjoying a mint lemonade out of super fun, custom glasses. What a great way to add a splash of color to your kitchen!

    Materials needed:
    -Any size glass tumblers.
    -Dishwasher-safe, non-toxic glass paint. I used this glass paint set, which comes with a lot of fun colors
    -A small, medium, and large paint brush

    Instructions:
    1. Prep your glasses using the instructions on your paint kit. In order for the finished project to last longer through multiple cleanings, a clear prep paint needs to be applied first. This came with the kit. It’s probably called Surface Conditioner.
    2. Start painting your glasses! I’m partial to geometric patterns and bright colors, especially stripes and polka dots.
    3. Grab a snack while your awesome designs dry.
    4. Top off with the clear gloss that came with your kit.
    5. Add a yummy beverage.

      I was just perusing anthropologie and oohing and aahing over some of their glassware and this DIY looks like it came straight from their shelves with a price-tag that doesn’t make me turn white! Thanks for posting this.
