• Sites and Bites

I’m back today with another Sites and Bites post this friday. This is a new series I started where I’ll be sharing a favorite San Francisco site paired with a nearby spot to grab a bite! This week for Sites and Bites we ventured up to Twin Peaks lookout at Sunset, and then ate some delicious dried fried chicken-chopped at San Tung  in the Inner Sunset. Crack chicken is more like it.

Twin Peaks is the highest point in San Francisco and the best place to get a view of the whole city and bay. The drive up to Twin Peaks is really beautiful in and of itself! I found that sunset is the best time to go for pretty light, but be prepared for serious wind. It’s cold up there!

We were worried the fog would block our view but the way the sun lit it up was magical!

When your hair is sufficiently wind blown and your fingers mostly all numb, head down to San Tung’s Chinese restaurant in the Inner Sunset for some really amazing crack chicken, as I call it. I’m not usually a big fan of Chinese food but this stuff is the yummiest Chinese food I’ve had! On the menu it’s called ‘dried fried chicken chopped’. You can also get the wings variety but I like this chopped version the best. Oh man it’s so crunchy and delicious!

Keep reading to see a map of where to find these two spots!

Love this post! San Tung is one of my favorite restaurants and indeed the chicken is addictive. Love this city!

I love this series Liz! Your pictures are so beautiful, I loved San Francisco so much when we visited last year, the fog was one of my most favourite parts!

Totally. There’s something so relaxing about that fog. I love leaving my window open at night and hearing the fog horns on the bay too.

This is perfect! When I lived in San Francisco, somehow I never made it up to Twin Peaks. Can’t wait to take our girls up there when we visit this summer!

beautiful pictures! i would encourage you to try some authentic chinese food. my guess is that you don’t like chinese food because you eat americanized chinese food!

You’re probably right. It’s just usually very heavy, that’s all. Do you have any authentic Chinese places to recommend?

Oh man I’m a big fan of Chinese food so I’m sure I’d love that stuff. I have to visit that lookout next time I come too!
