Hi! I’m Liz and this is my lifestyle blog with inspirational ideas for stylish and crafty living. I started this blog about 6 years ago while I was a newlywed living in a little brownstone in Hoboken, NJ and the name just kind of stuck. Up until the time my now 4 year old son was born, blogging was just a hobby that I would spend time on in my free time. Since then I’ve transitioned it a full time job where I share tutorials and style ideas for young moms just like myself, plus write for other sites and collaborate with brands on content campaigns. Welcome to my site!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few frequently asked questions about my blog, my life and my work:

I’m coming to San Francisco soon, do you have any recommendations of places to go and things to eat?

Yes! I have a separate page on this topic right here. Short answer: there is so much awesomeness here.

How do you make an income from blogging?
I sell ads on my site with small shops and through Federated Media. I also collaborate with brands on campaigns and sponsored posts. In addition, I also write for Apartment Therapy, Babble, and Momtastic.

I’d love to blog as a career as well, how should I get started?
It’s taken me a long time to blog professionally and full time, but I love it and feel so lucky that my hobby has turned into a career. I’d recommend you start by defining your goal, investing in your blog as you would any other business, creating excellent content, make meaningful connections with other bloggers, and utilizing social media. I teach a webinar, Blogging 101, that might be useful if you’re just getting started. Find more about this class and others right here.

What kind of camera do you use?
I have a Canon 30D and use primarily a 50 mm 1.4 lens. If you’re started out, I’d recommend getting a cheaper body, like a Canon Rebel, and investing in a lens like the 50mm 1.4 which is gorgeous for portraits. I also often use a reflector to soften shadows in my craft tutorial images.

Where did the name of your blog come from?
It started when we were newleyweds living in Hoboken, NJ. Also, I had been listening to a lot of Sufjan Stevens’ “Say Yes to to Michigan’ album.

Are you taking any orders for your pink bow skirt?
I’m not, it was an experiment and I only made one. I’m not a seamstress.

Can I feature your tutorial or images on my site?
Of course, just please link back to the instructions (don’t post the full instructions on your site), and only use one or two photos from the tutorial pretty please!

Do you have recommendations for camping with kids?
Yup, I have a post about that right here! Short story: It’s not as bad as you think!

    Can you review my product?
Email me at liz@sayyestohoboken(dot)com and we can discuss whether we think it will be a good fit for my blog. I cannot to  promise to post about product that is sent, but I will accept samples if I think it might be a possibility.

Do you take craft tutorial submissions?
I do occasionally feature other craft projects, email me at liz@sayyestohoboken(dot)com with a link to your project or no more than two images attached and I’d love to check it out!
