Weekend Roundup
Hip hip hooray! It’s Friday! My sweet mother is in town visiting from ice cave New York and she’s offered to watch Henry for a couple days while Jared and I take off for a little weekend trip up in the mountains. Also, I’ve made serious progress with my thrifted polka dot dress I’m altering and can’t wait to share all the details with you next week. Valentine’s Day Traditions
Normally for Jared and I a romantic Valentine’s Day means things awkwardly cut into the shape of hearts, dinner actually at the table, and maybe a special chocolate dessert (which, lets be honest, is more for me).

But, last year I was in a lovey-dovey mood. I typed up sweet little notes and rolled them into these capsules for Jared to find wrapped up inside a surprise ball. More details about it here. It was kind of wonderful to sit down and think about all the sweet things to say and I’d love to do something like it again.

All these love notes are making me inspired to do something sweet again. Do you play up the Valentine’s Day romance? DIY: Glitter Tie and Bow Tie Tees
I kind of regret not making one of these toddler glitter tees in my size, because I’d totally sport that silver one if given the chance and proper occasion (i.e. trip to the grocery store).
The freezer stencil is probably the easiest I’ve ever done. Literally it takes 5 seconds to cut out. That’s how easy a freezer stencil should be, but yet so many of them turn into a pointer finger’s worst nightmere.
I used a glitter fabric paint, but in retrospect, I’m wondering if anyone has used just a clear fabric paint and then applied glitter directly on top. It might have helped produce a more even distribution of glitzy glitter. Maybe in the adult-sized version I’ll try that technique.

No-Jeans Inspiration: Sister Outfits!
So! You wanted to see some real no-jeans outfits for my resolution that weren’t from magazines and j.crew ads. Well, here’s something fun. My three sisters decided to join in on the challenge with me (have I mentioned how fashionable they are?). Celeste is older (and cooler), Becca and Trina are younger (and hipper). On Trina’s agenda this week: Band practice with Timber! in preparation for their upcoming gig this weekend, making grilled cheeses in a waffle maker in the dorm, studying for her biology test, and shopping at thrift stores
